date Dros started for long guns?

Can someone tell me the date that the Dros started for long guns. Rifles and shotgun and not the so called assault rifles.
    Thanks for any help.

Strictly speaking, even long guns were reported through the Dealer's Record of Sale before 2014; it was 2014 when CA DOJ began collecting detailed info, same as they had been collecting for handguns

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

In CA 1991 was the start of background checks for long guns and 1996 was the start of 10 day wait to pick them up. Handguns have a different history. I bought my first rifle in 1975 at age 18 no background check nor wait, but had to wait to age 21 for handgun purchase. So many changes now with the 11% extra tax an insult to injury. Glad I moved for many reasons.

              AFAIK...

1923 = CA DROS required for handguns and 1 day waiting period on handguns.
1956 = 3 day waiting period on handguns.
1965 = 5 day waiting period on handguns.
1975 = 15 day waiting period on handguns.
1991 = All non-exempt firearm transfers must be done through a CA FFL dealer, CA DROS required for all firearm transfers, and 15 day waiting period for all non-exempt firearms.
1996 = The 15 day waiting period was reduced to a 10 day waiting period and waiting period exempt firearms were removed.
2014 = Some types of exempt firearm transfers were made non-exempt and CA DROS of long guns reported the firearm's info.

Before 1996, the waiting period did not apply to C&R long guns.
Starting in 1996, the waiting period applied to C&R long guns and an exemption to it was created for C&R firearms being acquired by a C&R FFL holder.
Before 2014, C&R long guns were exempt from needing to be transferred through a CA FFL dealer.
Starting 2014, C&R long guns were required to be transferred through a CA FFL dealer and the C&R long gun exemption was amended to only apply to a person with a valid C&R FFL + valid COE while acquiring a C&R long gun within CA.

1923 = CA DROS of handgun submitted the transferee's info and the firearm's info (make, model, serial number, caliber, barrel length).
1991 = CA DROS of long gun submitted the transferee's info and how many long guns were being transferred.
2014 = CA DROS of long gun submitted the transferee's info and the firearm's info (make, model. serial number, caliber, barrel length).
