i hear ya, but in the old days ~ I did carry a full size all steel 1911 in a milt sparks holster.

Then, as time went on I carried a Glock, but the old gal is calling my name again. Thank you ?

I carried a 9mm Browning Hi Power openly during my many years managing gun stores---the minute I wrapped my hands around that perfect grip, I was sold! Then the last gun store owner banned the carry of cocked and locked single action pistols after a home gunsmithed 1911 went off while an employee was playing around with it in the back room (!). No one was injured, but now I had to find a DA/SA pistol to carry for work... HK had just released their new USP pistol and I tried one that was brand new, but was about to be used as an indoor range rental gun---bought it on the spot! Holsters were a problem for a new gun, but I called my old friend, Gordon Davis (RIP), and asked if he could make me a holster for it---he informed me that he had just made a whole run of USP holsters for The US Border Patrol and he said come on by. When I got there, he handed me two "Avenger" style holsters and said no charge (I told you he was my friend)---they were the prototype holsters used for the Border Patrol holsters run---still have them and still use them...
I still like single-action pistols like the 1911 and the P35, but feel better carrying a DA/SA pistol...

The nucleus of my gun ownership revolves around the 1911. I appreciate what Glock, Beretta, mid size all steel magnum revolver, and 22 LR pistols can offer. They've all come and gone in my stable over the years. But I always have a few 1911 as the core of my collection. Nothing fancy uber expensive custom piece 1911 but your regular run of the mill factory level 1911.

I have the same dilemma as you. I carry my USP 45 compact against a Bul Armory and a STI, both commander size guns. I need to be more faithful to the 1911's.

At the time that Gordon Davis made your holsters, was he in Ash Fork by then?

No, Gordon was still just east of Los Angeles with a small shop---just him and a couple of helpers... This was 1994...
