Guns on a boat

Ok so I can have a gun in my house with no permit, I can carry a gun in my Tahoe all be it locked and empty, but what about a gun on a boat ? whats the rule here ? is it the same as my house ? do I need a CCP to have it on the boat or is the rule the same as a house ? Now keeping in mind that's its a large 26' cabin cruiser, now we dont live on the boat but go out on it for hours and sometimes days and would like to have a small pistol for personal protection.

when i worked in the oregon fishing fleet, i know that in order to enter the wheelhouse during the boarding of a fishing vessel the US coast guard either needs a search warrant, probable cause, or the captain's permission. the reason being that there are living quarters on the vessel and that constitutes a "home" especially since several skippers live on their boat full time. Maritime law is very tricky, so i hoped this helped, but im guessing it probably didnt.

In CA, you can pretty much always have a handgun, unloaded, in a locked case, in your car; when it comes to mobile residences, when parked and settled in to be used as a home, you can load and carry that handgun inside your temporary home.

CA law (PC) doesn't talk about carry or possession in boats. It does allow concealed carry while fishing; I would guess that if one's boat had fishing gear, and proper fishing licenses were held, and other behaviors were not dangerous or threatening, a handgun on your boat would not be an issue.
