if you're in Carlsbad, Iron Sights is ten minutes away.

Pretty good indoor range, gets crowded on the weekends. But it probably has fluorescent lights.

If you want to be 100% sure, send a completed Personal Firearms Eligibility Check Application with payment to CA DOJ.

They' mail you back a response within 120 days.

IIRC, no one is an "addict" unless they say they are.

I don't think any amount of misdemeanor drug bust will DQ you from buying a gun.

AFAIK, a State of California or Fed doctor could diagnose you as "addicted" when you are arrested and it wouldn't matter one bit.

That is an idea, but it you want quicker, just buy a cheap 1st gun like Big5 Mosin for $89. Some places wont charge "restocking", and I think Big5 might be one. But I'd say 98% you are GTG. Someone said a "C&R" can be sold without DROS, but Big5 will do a DROS on any gun sale. As big company, they wouldn't want to be the "gun he got because he couldn't get normal gun so he killed his wife with one he got with Big5 loophole".

Really? Show me how you arrive at this brilliant conclusion?

Like I said, I'm not a lawyer and this may not be the last word on the matter but a simple google search provided this:

          New York

New York Criminal Procedure Law 160.50 permits the "sealing" of cases where charges were dismissed, vacated, set-aside, not filed, or otherwise terminated. Otherwise, New York does not allow expungements, or "sealings," of cases where a conviction was entered, except for some older controlled substance, marijuana, and loitering offenses. Sealing a record under 160.50 will prevent the public from having access or seeing the records, including fingerprint cards, photographs, court entries, and other information related to the case. The record may still be made available to some entities, such as courts and law enforcement.successfully complete DIVERSION, DTAP, or a similar substance abuse treatment program recognized by the court. The sealing will also extend to up to three of the petitioners misdemeanor drug convictions.
I still say fill out the DROS and see what happens. Chances are you won't have any issues.

Figured I'd post an update and let everyone know that I passed the background check without so much as a delay! Now I just need to find some suitable BLM land so I can shoot
