    Where did Marlin relocate TO?

All they said was 'closing New Haven' but no word on new location.

    Does mean Red China?

    Most likely Illion, New York.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Illion is Remingtons headquarters from way back right? I thought I read that the original Remington and sons help found the town back before the civil war.

Did you know that Remington is the oldest US company continuously in business? Its also the oldest company still making its original product.

Bingo. This is correct. And apparently their level of quality control has declined considerably since the move.

          Sad, but true.

          It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

I wonder what the inside story is on who is exactly making these guns now and

where and how did they get hired and at what pay?

With this economy, I'm sure you could FIND lots of qualified machinists who could be taught to make guns (not to mention lots who would love to make guns). But maybe they didn't hire machinists, but figured "entry level" workers could be taught to slap guns together just as good.

I knew a guy who worked at an "Indian Motorcycle" factory in Gilroy, CA. He was making $8/hour installing the brake systems and it was his first "real job" besides fast food. The bikes were selling for around $30,000.

            Hello....brakes, motorcycle???

IIRC, Marlins 1994c were in Big5 for around $400 before the change over and were nice guns, so their argument that this was 'needed' doesn't wash.

In mid 2010, Dick's out here had the 1894 in 44 Mag for $489. I feel stupid for not getting one.
