    Optics/sights question

Just got an AR and I'm thinking about doing iron sights and a red dot sight.. Whats a good red dot sight that I can cowitness the iron sights with.. one that has a good light intensity where I wont waste money that is clear enough to use both.

EOTech & Aimpoint are the two big dogs.

If EOTech, get the side mounted battery (XPS?) over the lengthwise AAs.

Aimpoint H1 is the one to get if you're running Aimpoint and don't need night vision compatibility.

    Watch out for counterfeits.

Yep, EOTech and Aimpoint. I have heard good things about Primary Arms. Anything else is the old "buy once, cry once". Personally, I like the AA battery EOTechs. I'm using a 512 and will never have to worry about finding batteries for it!

If on a budget, check out the Primary Arms Micro Dot. If not, EOTech or Aimpoint.

Haha.....Thanks, I will try to avoid cheap products and the "buy once, cry once" dilemma.

This sight is digitally adjusted and can be set to either red of green sights. Operates just like the EOTECH sight. Press the UP button and the unit turns on. Press the UP and DOWN buttons to adjust intensity, or the middle W button to change between red and green holographic pattern. Press both buttons at the same time and the unit will turn off. Perfectly designed for the M4 - install this sight onto the flat-top rail of your M4 - your M4 / M16 front sight will NOT obstruct the holographic image since its located high enough to look over the top of the front sight. The 553 features an auto-adjustable brightness reticle, which automatically adjusts the brightness level by detecting the ambient light. This feature does not exist on the 551 model. FOR AIRSOFT USE ONLY

for cheap optics, Primary arms is the way to go. For eotech style, the US made bushnell Holosites arent bad.

spend more time on your irons.

with the larger rear aperture, the AR iron sights function like a ghost ring basically

no batteries to worry about, no electronics to worry about

instead of an optic, stick with irons and get this sling:

(the VTAC would be my 2nd choice, but I like the one above better)

                      Top RDS

Aimpoint. A Tubed red dot sight you have to look through. Uses an LED to form a dot.

EOtech. A Holographic projection of a reticule onto glass. Not the same as a RED DOT sight which uses an LED to form a dot. There is no other holographic optic on the market, I don't care what a manufacture says they have. Its a trick on word play when they do.

Trijicon Reflex or Accupoint. No battery powered optics that use radioactive material and fiber optics to produce a reticule.

C-More. Once and some say the best competition optics on the market. If you are looking for solid built you need to avoid their plastic body models. These are for extreme weight savings applications where every oz matters. The ATAC is one of the best AR15 optics made in my opinion, but weighs a metric ton since its a BUIS and optic in 1. I would only trade mine for an EOTech XPS or Trijicon TR-24. and consider the TR24 an acceptable downgrade.

All other Reflex and Tubed RDS are variations on these and to some degree are actually better or worst depending on manufacturer. You can get ripped off buying clones of all of these so be careful. Do not buy a $500 optic from some random guy on E-bay. I don't care how many points they have. I caught a "power seller" with a 4 digit score selling a fake EOtech. I traced e-bay buys in the profile (by her reviews) to an Airsoft Clone seller in China. I reported her and got nowhere with E-bay. The fake EOtech sold for $500...she paid $25 for it with $90 shipping....nice little profit margin.
