    More gun store FUD

I went to sell my G23 @ Guns, Fishing & Other Stuff in Vacaville. They told me it was ILLEGAL to have ammunition and a firearm at the same time. WTF? I had unopened ammo in a duffel bag, and the Glock unloaded and locked inside a GunVault. I told him the pistol was in a locked container separate from the ammo. He told me it doesn't matter, it's still illegal. LOL.

You should have asked which penal code section it is that says that.

Yeah I thought about it, but I just wanted to make the sale and get out of there. It's not an FFL I've ever been to or ever plan on going back to.

Ask him who is more of an authority on firearms transportation laws in CA, him or the CHP?

          From the CHP website FAQ

I will be traveling to California and want to carry my weapon. I currently have a concealed weapon permit. How can I legally transport my weapon while driving through the state?
California law does not recognize concealed weapon permits from other states; therefore, they would not be held valid. If you wish to transport a handgun during your California visit, it should be carried unloaded in a locked container. In the absence of a suitable container, you may secure the unloaded handgun in the locked trunk of a passenger car. Ammunition may be kept in the same container or trunk, but the handgun must remain unloaded with no rounds in the cylinder and no loaded magazines in the magazine well.

If you have additional questions, contact the California Department of Justice at 916-227-3703.

The others, well......they just never learn.

As a side note their email address is:

              Gunsfishing@aol.com

The reviews on YELP are not that good.

However, someone could send them a nice email about the correct law on transporting guns...

Just like you should never take technical advice from the floor people at Best Buy, or career advice from a 35 year old working the drive through at McDonalds, don't take advice on gun laws from gun store employees.

Was this a PPT or a sale to the FFL? I would have walked out the door rather than support a store that is so blatantly full of BS. Good gun shops deserve our money, not the bad ones that spew misinformation and likely can't follow the law.

PPT. The guy I sold it to was from another city and we met halfway. I doubt I'll be going there again.

You mean I've been breaking the law everytime I go to the range to shoot?

I'd have asked him how its possible to shoot without breaking the law if you can't have the gun and ammo together at the same time..

Don't they sell guns and ammo at the same time?
