How do you carry at home?

How many of you guys/gals carry at home? If you do carry at home, do you prefer open or concealed? If you don't carry while you are home I am curious as to why not.

Personally I do carry when I am at home. I do not have a CCW yet so at the very least I am prepared to protect myself and my family while I am home. I also go back and forth from just throwing on a serpa ( easier to get on and off) or putting on my old faithful holster ( IWB).

Normally keep one on the night stand or near the computer, so don't feel it necessary to keep it on me. YMMV

If there were kids in the house, or room mates, I'd handle things differently.

After a day in the office, I come home and dress in my home relax/preparedness gear.

      Other times nightstand.

I carry concealed, in an IWB holster, for a couple reasons: One of the people I live with is pretty anti-gun and will start a completely useless argument at the sight of a firearm. The really weird thing is, they couldn't care less if the gun was there, it's completely based on their ability to see it or not. It's a mindset of out of sight, out of mind, except they firmly believe that the gun can hurt them if they can see it and that it's completely harmless if they can't. No, they are not rational and do not think logically about most issues.
The other reason is that I will eventually get a LTC, and I am practicing for that by carrying at home and making sure the gun will stay concealed during my day-to-day life.

I have guns loaded in 4 rooms in my house. I am going to be near enough to one of them to efficiently grab something in time. Plus we keep our security door locked, home alarm set most times, and are on an awkward hill that makes it kind of hard to get to.

Does anyone live in an apartment complex? If so, would you technically be allowed to carry on the whole property?

With the apts permission or whoever the owner is. Seems like everywhere I looked you can carry on your property or someone elses with their permission.

I don't carry at home... In the event of some surprise attack, my fam and I have quick access to a nice can of bear attack spray... That'll get you good and not get you dead.. At sleepy time, though, there's other options if necessary... Plus my dobermans are superb warning signals if need be.

Not if that property is accessible by the public. In other words, if there's no fence or continuous wall around the property, you can't carry there without a license.

There was also some talk about shared property that I can't remember off the top of my head. Basically, in an apartment setting, you can legally carry sans license in your own apartment and a fenced off balcony or back yard. Everywhere else is most likely going to be off limits for you. In a house, the building and back yard would be legal to carry in, assuming the back yard is fenced in (also the front yard would be legal to carry in if it was fenced).

I hope you've practiced unleashing that bear spray in a confined space. I think that whoever shot that in a house would be just as incapacitated as the intruder you are trying to repel.

Like this, except without the spare mags.

                            It's too late, it's over.

are all you guys paranoid or live in really bad neighborhoods? i have a dog in my back yard for a pet not protection, and a good old baseball bat close by, 9mm in drawer if ever needed, but don't feel the need to carry.
