    New range in Ventura

Is the new range (Island View Enterprises) in Ventura affiliated with Blueline? So close to each other.

No. They're seperate. Island view is GTG as a gun store. Haven't seen the range yet....

Went there yesterday straight from EBR Works to try out the Bushmaster I had just picked up. Very clean and nice range. The Guy that helped me and the RO were good. 18 bucks to shoot if you have your own ammo (nothing magnetic allowed). The memberships seemed kind of high compared to other ranges but I doubt I would make it out there enough to shoot to make it worth it for me. Over all I would highly recommend it to someone in Ventura County looking for an indoor range.

I've been six times since they opened and so far bought my CZ527 Varmint and my AR from them. Great range and people who work there. I bought a "Gold" Membership so now it is only $10.00 every time I want to shoot for an hour. They are definitely not affiliated with Blueline.

I find indoor ranges get boring for me much past an hour.

I heard from a guy they charge $18 for an hour. Where shooters charges $12 for the whole day. Shooters may not be the best, but if this is true, depending on how much you shoot shooters is the way to go.

^ 18 is a small price to pay for not getting shot. Look at the ceiling at shooters as an example. They should issue Kevlar at the door just to walk in.....

There is the Shooters safety factor and the fact that you must purchase lame, underpowered overpriced lead free ammo to shoot at Shooters. I ran the numbers and if you do your own reloads or buy low cost ammo, the cost between Shooters and Island View becomes much closer. Shooters is a dump, ran by people who range from mildly engaged to annoying. Island View is brand new, clean, ran very professionally with an RO actually on the range, I feel much safer at Island View whereas I feel as if I have almost lost my life by inexperienced shooters at Shooters.

Like most other things in life, you get what you pay for. Shooters is not terrible but it is not good, it is very average. Island View is really good, much cooler people, much more professional setup, better lighting, nicer facility and you don't have to buy overpriced, underpowered lead-free ammo to shoot there.

              No contest.

IVE has special rates different days, they dont restrict your ammo like shooters, cleaner facility with good air circulation, overall I dont see a reason to go to Shooters again myself.

Yeah they charge by the hour, but I normally can't afford to shoot for more than an hour anyway. Plus monday is half off for calguns members. I've been 3 times. I like it. They have a full time range officer too.

I had a lady point a loaded gun at my stomach finger on the trigger at shooters. A range officer may have prevented that since the lady kept freaking out and ducking after every shot to avoid being hit with her shells. I took the gun away from her and went up to the front and returned it. they just gave it back after talking to her.

Scary stuff man. I really like having the RO at Island View. The guy is cool, pretty "on it" every time I have shot there.

Wonder how much Shooters business has fallen since Island View opened? I know that they lost me.

Was there on Sunday for the first time with my son. Not having to buy lead-free ammo made it cheaper than Shooters, and it is 10X the facility. Also, we rented an AK (one of their "premium" guns) and once you rent one, all other rentals are free that day as long as you buy ammo. Makes it a very reasonable way to check out a variety of firearms. Their ammo selection was really good, and the attached store was well stocked. I'm sure I'll be back.

I talked to a guy who works at shooters a couple days ago and I asked him of the felt an impact from the new range. He said that they were getting so busy that another range option has been a relief to them. But then he also told me their gun and ammo prices were competitive so he may have been lying about the range as well
