I used electronic almost exclusively for comfort and awareness reasons. I only have experience with Peltor and they have worked really well. The only drawback to them is they run on batteries and are going to die on you in the middle of a trip at some time, so carry spares. This is obviously a drawback no matter the brand but for an idea of battery life mine lasted about 2 years through about 10 to 12 shooting sessions. Last time out I got the warning beeps to change batteries, they were the original AA’s.

Edit to add the model I own is the tactical sport, not sure of the rating but with them alone I have had no problems but I shoot outdoors.

For hunting, expensive ear muffs actually increase ambient noises if you dial them up. But never reduce more than expensive standard muffs.

I double up when not hunting, and only use in my electronic outer muffs when shooting with someone so I can hear them talk.

      My 2 cents

I've had two pair of Bilsom electronic muffs for years. They are made in Sweden and you can tell the quality difference between them and the cheap ones.

The cheap electronics that have flooded the market lately have given electronic hearing protection a bad name. The quality of the electronics is hit and miss. I purchased a case of cheapie electronic muffs a while back. I gave them out as presents and used them with my kids. Some of them are still working great. Others stopped working after a few months. I gave a set to friend last month and he said they still work fine.

One of my Bilsom's has stopped working, so I think I'll get a pair of MSA Sordins.

          Muffs

I use electronic muffs when shooting 22 rifles. But the L3 is the best I've found for shooting everything else. Well except shotguns, I've molded plugs for that, muffs hit the stock.
