So, I was thinking.. I know, bad idea.. but I had nothing better to do.
So, when making a new purchase of a long gun, unlike a handgun, no model/make/serial number is listed on the form correct? I mean, when I purchased my last few lowers, rifle, and shotgun, it was like that.
So, basically, the government, does not know what long guns I have, all they know is how many I have.
Besides the law, what is there stopping people (in California) from just doing a straight exchange of long guns? Trade a rifle for rifle? Not going through an FFL. Basically, you will still have the same number of long guns. Just wondering. I mean, like if I found some one that wanted to trade me a stripped receiver with me, because we wanted a different roll mark, what is to stop us from just swapping? Besides that law. How would it actually be known that it wasn't mine to begin with?
