    Opinions on Phoenix 22's

Looking for something cheap just to plink after I shoot my other handguns. Wondering, from those of you who own a Phoenix 22 cal., what is your opinion on the firearm? Shooting wise, cleaning wise, reliability...etc.

Or should I just spend a little more and buy a Ruger 22 pistol?

    All opinions welcomed

I have one and it's nice, and small. I haven't had any jamming issues yet, but others have I have read. It's cheap and the company that makes them PHOENIX is in Ontario, Ca. The guns come with a good warranty as well.

A little more will get you a RUGER that will eat anything HV +... but hind sight is only 20/20. If you like smaller frames there are a few other options. But they are not Rugers.
      Pistols only?

Good little pistol for the price. I sold mine.....not because I didn't like it, but because I have enough .22 pistols and this one wasn't getting any action. No failures of any kind even with rapid fire (and you can get this little thing shooting FAST). Heavy little sucker though.....I remember holding my Phoenix and my unloaded Glock 19 one in each hand, and they felt about the same weight-wise. Also, that silly "double-safety" thing is annoying. I've seen owners remedy this by removing one of them, but I didn't really care enough to mess with it. Again, not a deal breaker, but just a slight annoyance. Great warranty from what I hear, not that I needed it. Even if I did, the factory where they're made is about 20 miles from my house, so a drop-off/pick-up would've been easy. Can't really compare if to a Ruger .22. If you have the scratch, I'd get the Ruger (Buck Mark, SR22, or a used Hi-Standard!), but don't let that discourage you from buying one. Good luck sir.

I have one and it is great. I even made a video showing how to remove the magazine disconnect so the safety works without the mag in.
