    What Lubricants Do You Use?

    Hello,

I'm trying to find an excellent lube/metal conditioner that will stick to bolts on my rifles much better than traditional grease.

I keep coming across an astounding number of products, mostly what I'd consider overpriced.

Militec-1 is one example. Supposedly folks in the sandbox are ordering it by the metric buttload but the DoD says NOT to use it (big ol' long PDF file on that one!)

I use cleaner to clean. I'm not looking for a CLP... Breakfree CLP is excellent for getting your rifle going again (I used it in Appleseed, anyway, to keep a 10/22 from puking), but I prefer to clean and then use a metal conditioner that impregnates itself to metal and won't leave. I hate working dry bolts!

Regular oil isn't cutting it. The rifle heats and it migrates to parts unknown.

    What do you folks use?

    Thanks,

    Josh

Froglube. It's not the cheapest, but it sticks well, lubricates even better and makes for easy cleanup. And since it's also non-caustic/toxic, I can clean the BCG on my M4 while I'm watching TV. I've given up on the multiple products thing and now it's all I use. When you combine cleaners, oils, etc separately, it's really not that expensive.

Slide Guide or Tetra gun grease. Both work great.

Well, way back when I was involved in the gun business, I was given many samples (lifetime suppy) of BreakFree CLP and another product called FP-10---they both work very well---no rust---that's it!

                    Haha good one

Once I started using froglube, I never looked back. That is all I use now on all my guns and rifles.

Froglube! Love it and more importantly, the wife likes how it smells and I can clean guns in my house not in the garage.

tetra gun grease or automotive white lithium grease. Use it on my m1a and mosins with no problems.
Just some cheap plastic frames and old cowboy stuff.
