Security Alarm Your Safe? Any WIFI/Wireless Systems?

Does anyone have their safe wired for an alarm?

I want a setup so if my safe gets tampered with/detects motion an alert gets sent to my phone and an alarm goes of.

    I came across this http://www.homesecuritystore.com/p-1...alarm-kit.aspx

And think it has what I'm looking for. I was also thinking just using a window magnet sensor on the inside so if the door is opened when the safe is alarmed it is tripped.

I dont want to run wires or pay for a monthly service. Any one know of a good wireless system that can send alerts to my smartphone?

I know some cameras have smartphone apps. Check out Y-Cam. Will alert when motion is detected. Runs off your home wifi. You could mount it inside the safe

I could've sworn I saw some alarms that ran off AC power and sent a message to your phone but I can't find a damn thing. FYI, someone filed a patent for an alarm-triggered gun safe lol.

Odds are they won't open your safe in your home they will try to take the entire thing, even if they do try to open it and they give up your camera inside will catch nothing. Better chances of catching them with camera mounted outside the safe but hidden.

My safe is in a closet and the closet door is armed with a monitored security system and standard door sensor (in addition to the rest of the door/window sensors.)
I had the same thought as you on this and you will have trouble with a wireless sensor inside the safe because the signal will not travel through it. I have a window in the "line of sight" of my safe (between the sensor and the control panel) and the sensor had to be moved because the safe was blocking it. I can only imagine that inside any decent safe would be a no-go on these wireless sensors. Exterior sensor would be worthless because they would be too easy to tamper which is why I went with the closet sensor.

I use a $79.99 D-link IP camera via my home wi-fi to monitor my safe. I have the camera pointed @ the safe from across the room. The software that came with the camera allows you to overlay a grid over the screen, you then choose wich squares on the grid will trigger a response. If something moves in the chosen square it e-mails me a picture instantly to my smartphone. I can also view the camera real time from any internet connected device. I also have a camera facing down the driveway, when someone walks up my driveway I get an email. For $79.99 you cant beat it.

What does one do if they have pets that roam around the house all day? Would an individual receive constant email notifications? I guess there could be worse things. Interesting. Will check out the link.

Perhaps you could choose the squares at the top of the sreen for the trigger vs the lower ones.

                  Just hire an armed guard

Seriously though, thanks for the suggestion of an alarm for the safe. Not a bad idea.

Alarm the door to the room where the safe is in, and also install a motion in that room, so if you get an alarm for the door, but no motion it's probably a false alarm, but if both go off, you know someone is in there for sure. Also a camera in the room and outside the room would be good.

I did all that but it just opens up a can of worms.

Thief turns off power to the apt/house.

Thief locates phone line and Internet connection.

I just added a motion sensor to my garage, where my safe is bolted down too. Only cost me $85 for the additional motion detector and it's monitored by ADT who will call me if the alarm is triggered. The new motion sensors are set to go off with anything larger than 45lbs, so unless it's a team of midgets it'll go off. Granted they'll have to be damn strong midgets at that being the safe is bolted to the floor and weighs over 2,000 lbs fully loaded.

                            Something else to consider

Pepper Spray Alarm - - they trip alarm and get srayed - - then they don't stick around.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you can invest on a decent UPS for your alarm system so even if the power is cut their is a back up. And also a good alarm system have option to run via wireless cellphone account so even if the land line is cut it could still dial out.
