Shot my dang Chrony! Anyone made a protective case?

Shot my dang chrony and I am thinking that it will most likely happen again.
Anyone have any ideas for protecting it against getting hit again
    (other then being more careful)
I was thinking about building a steel box out of AR400 steel with a piece of angle iron in front and some dense foam around it.

Steel is expencive, probably more than a chrony.

Zero your optics (or get a secondary optic) closer to the range of the chrony?

It really cant be that hard to shoot into the thing w/o blasting on it haha.

What are you shooting? And shoot off a rest...

Only a .22lr at about 6ft, just grazed the top of the back sensor. Not nearly as impressive of some that I have seen, but still enough to make it stop working.

the only shields I have seen will protect the box or brains of the chrono. You should be able to get replacement rods and sun visors for cheap. measure with a tape measure muzzle height and set the chrono's height to shoot half way between the box and sun visor.

You don't want rounds ricocheting off a piece of steel that only 10 feet away from you. The chances of getting hit by shrapnel would be pretty high.

Set up your chrony so you bullets flight path is closer to the sun diffusers than to the box itself. Diffusers are pretty cheap to replace.

                    Check out this one. http://www.magnetospeed.com/
It seems to get good reviews on 68forums. Was thinking about getting one myself when finances allow.
