I don't think most insurance companies cover guns automatically, I believe they have to be scheduled with the insurance company.

You can get a separate policy for firearms and collectibles.

I forget which company I went with, but it was very reasonable.

I have AAA homeowners & all my firearms are covered at full replacement cost. They wont cover very rare or irreplaceable guns but unfortunately I don't have any of those.

I believe it was collectibles insurance at collectinsure.com. I also have the NRA policy.

I assume they requested a list of serial and receipts for all of your firearms?

No they are just covered under personal property. I didn't really believe my agent at first, so he gave me a letter stating all firearms were covered. I keep pics & scaned receipts in an email folder for all my valuables. That way I have proof if something were to happen to my stuff (burned or stolen) I could always access my email from somewhere else.

That's interesting. I have a AAA renters policy and while guns are covered at full replacement value, there's a $2K limit on the policy for firearms. I guess the home owners policy is different than the renters policy. Forgive me for asking, but have you read the full policy to confirm what the agent told you?

Two other sources for firearms insurance is State Farm who offers a Personal Articles policy which is pretty reasonable. And there's the link below.

Geico (Liberty Mutual) home insurance offers additional insurance for guns, but only if you provide a list with serial numbers. I didn't want to provide that.

This year I'm looking into AAA.

My statefarm renters policy has $2,500 automaticly. I had to provide pictures and serial #s in order to buy extra insurance. But to me its worth it.

I have mine covered in my renters insurance and I have the $2500 NRA coverage.
