I spent the day searching for a gun safe and no such luck. Talking with my buddy and my dad, both picked up gun safes for around 500$ . My buddy picked up a 20 gun sentry for 500$ at Costco on sale and my dad out of state picked up a 20 gun from cabbalas on sale for the same price. So today I went on a mission. Lowes and home depot wanted 730 for that size. Costco had Winchester 50 gun for 799$ in my area, Very impressive but just out of my price range and a little bigger than I wanted right now. Everything online and local was not cutting it. The local gun shop thought I was crazy to get a good safe for 500$. So now I turn to the experts at cal guns. Do you know any area in the southern california where I can get a 20-30 gun digital keypad gun safe for 500$ right now.

That's what I thought too. Went to the local Costco and they had only the big one. Called 3 others in the socal area and they said they did not even have a safe.Comment

If you can get the stock number for the smaller Winchester Costco safe, they can do a search and see if there is one in So Cal, I had them look at my Fresno store last summer, closest one to me was in Bako.
I had a pic of the stock number but can't seem to find it, it may be in one of my old post?Comment

What's your definition of a good safe? Because for $500, what you're getting is a Residential Security Container. Do you understand the difference?
And I'm not knocking a $500 RSC. But it would be a shame if you thought you were getting a higher level of protection than what it really is."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

My advice is to get bigger and more expensive than what you're planning. You'll be amazed at how quickly it fills up and the huge difference in security features. I was bent on getting the Liberty FatBoy Jr. because that was at the top end of my budget, but I bit the bullet and spent the extra $ for the full-size FatBoy. It was definitely worth it and I would probably be in the market for a second safe if I hadn't.Comment

with consideration of your budget... check out the secondary market for a used safe. CL is a good place to find a deal on a safe. i got my current safe through a seller on CL with no hiccups. i have seen some good deals on the forum here, as well.
better to buy larger than you believe you will need. a safe fills up quickly, regardless of your projected spatial needs; it just happens.Comment
