    last opinions

So I've been itching to buy myself a 14.5 mid length upper. Finally pay day is here and I've narrowed down to two. I'm leaning more onto the PSA because of the HFB but,
I've heard nothing but good things about BCM not to mention a free hat (jk). Anyway I plan to sleep on it but also wanted to get a last opinion on this. So speak on it!

BCM® 14.5" upper receiver group. This AR15 upper comes with a 14.5in barrel (FSB) and your choice of a pinned and welded muzzle device.

so the choice is between M249 barrel steel and Mid-length gas system.

I'd go with the M249 barrel steel. BCM uses Colt's 4150CMV tested to Mil-B-11595E. 4150CMV is tricky stuff, you make it wrong and its the worst barrel steel you can have. This is why there is a milspec on how to test its manufacture. BCM requires its barrel vendors to test as per the mil-spec, but I see no reason to get involved in all that just to say I own the same barrel steel as a grunt...BFD. Its mainly a sales pitch selling to men who want to believe a fantasy. I would go with better if possible.

Also the type of ammo you shoot may not like the mid-gas. There are threads on the nets that point to mid-gas failing to cycle low powered and low quality ammo. So it you plain on shooting cheap ammo, or soft ammo again I would go with the PSA upper.

As always I will add this ....
I have nothing but love for BCM, I am just stating facts for the OP here. I am not a hatr nor anti-BCM. If the OP was choosing between Colt and PSA my response would be the same, but instead of the mid-gas I would be telling him to avoid the Colt due to the anti-sear webbing. If he would have said S&W I would be listing the pros and Cons to M249 barrel steel and 4140CM with Melonite QPQ treatment. So don't even start with the fanboi stuff.
