Seems like everytime I walk into a gun-show or gun store here in CA. I think everything seems to be about $100-$150 over priced....So am I crazy? Or just Cheap?

I dont think you are either. The guys selling guns have to make up the cost of their jerky making equipment somehow.Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless

Neither, for all of the reasons mentioned. This is CA, and I've had the same experience. This is why I've ordered a number of guns from out of state and STILL paid less than I would have from a CA dealer, even with the transfer fees. I'd love to give my $$$ to local business, but I've had better luck finding what I wanted elsewhere AND paid less for the product.
It's impossible to calculate, but I'd love to know how much money this state is losing in taxes from the off-roster guns not sold in CA.NRA Lifetime Member

I've found deals but seems like the transfer fees eliminate the need and add another complication with shipping. Not counting all the sellers who don't want to risk getting sued by Ca DoJ.Neither, for all of the reasons mentioned. This is CA, and I've had the same experience. That's why the FFL's charge tax now for transfers. It's impossible to calculate, but I'd love to know how much money this state is losing in taxes from the off-roster guns not sold in CA."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. You're always free to shop around. Keep in mind shipping costs and transfer fee's sometimes kill that killer deal you found online. I've found a lot of customers want to compare prices to Buds/some other online source. I've found a lot of stores will match b&m [brick and mortar] competitors prices. In most cases the prices don't vary all that much, but people want to save a buck. Also the retail stores that carry a large inventory will charge more for the same firearm. Think about it your overhead will be more if you have order cases of guns.
So are you crazy? A bit. Cheap? Nothing wrong being price conscious... but you might be

Well with the revolver I was looking at I added everything up including tax, shipping, and Dros. I was still $25 cheaper than the starting price in store.
I would love another P89; I kept my standard caps when it was sold. Now trying to find one online is confusing though with the "list" models...Comment

Neither, I have yet to find a deal on a gun at a gunshow that I couldn't beat at one of my local shops. Gunshows are good for Bulk ammo, beef jerky and cheap knives.Originally posted by mdouglas1980Seems like everytime I walk into a gun-show or gun store here in CA. RARELY do you find an unusual or rare gun like an FN-49 but then its a seller's market and you pay through the nose.
I look at a gunshow as a way to blow $30. And that's just to get in the door!
I'd rather spend the money at my local gun store. I know they'll be there Monday if something screwy happens with my purchase.sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment
