    Trigger Locks

    Ok,
So I was picking up my gun in LA area and was standing next to a gentleman buying a new gun. While he was completing the paperwork he asked the salesman 2 questions, the answers which I thought I knew, but what do I know:

Does a rifle need a trigger lock if stored in a cabinet ?
Salesman's answer: As long as it is in any locked cabinet, no trigger lock needed.
My understanding: No trigger lock needed if in an approved storage device.

Does a rifle need a trigger lock while being transported?
Salesman's answer: Yes, trigger lock needed.
My understanding: Rifles do not need to be locked when transported.

    Can anyone weigh in?

    Thanks!

For transport, if you have no trunk, you need a locking container I believe. But I don't know anything other than Point n Click.
