    Pistol Mag Rebuild clarification

I am looking for some clarification on Rebuilt Magazines. I see them for sale with guns in the private forums all the time, and to my limited understanding, large capacity magazines are only allowed to be had if you possessed them before January 2000, and that you are not allowed to give, buy, lend, or sell them if you do have them. Is the fact that they are a rebuild and not a standard magazine from prior to 2000 the difference? Any clarification would be appreciated. I would hate to purchase a gun with a rebuild mag, and then go to the range and get in trouble for having it. Thanks

yes, rebuilds are ok, but you cannot assemble them in this state.

So a rebuild is okay if it was initially rebuilt out of state...sorry if this sounds ignorant, but how would someone know if the rebuild was in fact rebuilt out of state or in state?

No. You can not sell, import or manufacture large capacity magazines. You can have a repair kit (which is not a magazine, it is just parts), but you can never assemble that in california, you can never have it assembled in california.

you can take it out of state, assemble and use, but you must either leave it out of state or disassemble it to bring it back into CA

Please read the link I posted

Or you can assemble the rebuild and permanently modify it to hold only 10 rounds.

You're missing part of what you are reading, or what you are reading is not clear; you are not seeing rebuilt magazines, you are seeing parts kits, with which you may rebuild damaged magazines, or build magazines blocked to 10-rounds, or keep disassembled to use out of state.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Ahh now I think I understand, so when they say for instance, 2 15 round rebuild mags, they are actually not put together, they are two spare mags that can be used to repair broken mags.

You need to get the verbiage down, so I corrected your post above.
