Has anyone ever used the gunsmith at Tabors?

I was in there yesterday, wonderful shop and helpful folks. Had only a moment to speak to the 'smith so I didn't really get a chance to see his work.

He seemed like a heck of a nice guy, and quoted me a very reasonable price for work ($50 for swapping a 2" barrel on a Model 10 S&W for a 5" barrel). The question is, how is his work?

Swapping the barrel entails a fair amount of work. The front sight needs to be straight, and the barrel/cylinder gap needs to be correct. Plus the throat may need attention. Is this fellow up to the job?

It is hard to ask, as he may the nicest guy in the world, but I don't want a monkeyed up job done, as I am sure you folks can imagine.

i have yet to use his gunsmithing talents, but i've heard very good things about him. all i know is that he would do just about anything to get things right.
i had ordered a benelli nova through him, and benelli kept messing up. in the end, he paid out of his own pockets for benelli to 2nd-day ship the nova so that i can get it to the range a week earlier.
i'm sure that type of commitment transfers to his gunsmithing.

Frank Tabor, the owner and gunsmith at Tabor's, is a good guy, if occasionally abit crotchety.

As a gunsmith, he does good work. But, oftentimes, the wait is LONG.

Frank is very friendly. He replaced the front sight for my gun and inspect/stake the grip busings on a 1911 for me. So far there're no problems on them. I believe he does good jobs like swapping barrels on your wheel gun. There were times I went there and people just drop off/pick up guns from him.
