Overheard at the gun store that in 2014 we will have to register all rifles, but even worse, the AR style will be outlawed in CA in 2013. So said the guy buying ten lowers.
This is all that I have heard of it so I'm not freaking out just yet, but when you think about the AW laws the gun is basically locked to you. You cannot sell it or trade it, you can take it out of state and sell it but it's common goods outside of PRKA.
How does it work when the .gov decides to make something illegal? When marijuana was outlawed what happened to all the fields? When prohibition kicked in what happened to the stores who owned thousands of gallons of the stuff? We know there was a registration window for automatic weapons and they are still transferable. Seems a shame that the AW does not enjoy the same benefits.
I do not expect a mandatory gun buyback or confiscation anytime soon, but I am curious as to those who are in legal possession of something that tomorrow will be illegal. Maybe you will be the only person in the state to have a legal widget, and you can command your own price (like the gun at the gun show with a CA legal semi-auto M-60 he finally sold for $25K).
I swear the gun lawyers here on Calguns would have an easier job being public defenders!
