    New Upper on a Pre-Ban AR15?

Can someone let me know if I'm legal? I have an Colt AR15 HBAR I purchased in 1989 and registered it with the CA DOJ in 1990, when AWs were required to be registered. I would like to replace the upper with a new M4 configured upper (16" barrel, flash supressor), and replace the fixed stock with a collapseable stock. The original receiver will still be used. I also have a Colt CAR15 I purchased and registered at the same time, so I know it is legal to have a collapseable stock on a pre-ban AW. I need to know if it is ok to do so to my 20" fixed stock AR15? Common sense tells me that since my AR is a pre-ban and registered as such, changing the config should be ok. But since this is CA, you never know.

    Thanks

If it's a registered assault weapon, you may change its configuration however you like, as long as it doesn't violate the NFA.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.
