Where is this course held? Sounds like a cool course to take.

Something similar is the M. Ayoob's Leathal Force Institute's training from what you have described/posted.

Its held in San Jose Metcalf Shooting Range. It is set up by Academy of Self Defense in Santa Clara. This is the second time I see them host something like this. They limit it to 20 people per class.

Mike Lamb is a very experienced, legit instructor and one bad mofo. He's taught Magpul Dynamics classes in the past with Chris Costa, so you're in for some good, solid training. Be a sponge and soak up all you can. Sounds like a great class.

I took this class along with a few buddies of mine a few months back. Both Mike and Don are very good instructors. Mike was an old Magpul trainer- a lot of his material is similar to the Magpul course offerings at practically half the cost. Expect lots of great range time and have fun!

Unfortunately their website is still under construction, but you can find them on Facebook. Do a search for Stoic Ventures.

Lots of reloading drills (speed and tactical reloads), malfunction drills, rapid firing, shooting on the move, ballastics lectures, etc. If you've watched the Magpul video on pistols its very similar as Mike helped write a lot of the Magpul course stuff if memory serves me right. Its not very often that you find similar courses available in the area so take advantage of the range time. Make sure you bring a good speed loader as you'll be running back to reload magazines often. Most of the course isn't revolver friendly but if you don't have a semi pistol they'll accommodate you.

I wouldn't worry too much about the learning curve- everyone is in the class to learn. Don is one of the best pistolsmiths in the area. I think he runs a custom 1911 chambered in 9mm.
