    Peltor or MSA Ear Pro...

Who has experience with either of the companies..
Im looking to get rid of my Howard hight Electronics and wanting something a little nicer.. looking at
    Peltor Swatac II

    or
    Msa Sordin Supreme pro X

Pro's | Con's? or something in the 2-300 range that are electronic that have a good fit and finish with a 1/8 jack input for bumping gangster rap!

I returned the Peltors to get the MSAs. I only wish the ear cup was bigger, otherwise love 'em.

Treat yourself to the gel cups & cloth covers - makes a whole day of shooting quite comfortable.

My only complaint about the MSA's is the battery change design. Either I'm doing it wrong, or the design is just not that good. The first battery goes in the tube and then slides off to one side. The second battery seats the first. Easy enough.

Problem comes when you need to take the batteries out (I don't use them often, so I don't like to store them with batteries in). First battery comes out easy enough (sort of), but the second battery is now press fit into it's slot off to one side and doesn't want to pop out easily.

      Annoying is all.

Oh and get the gel cups (never heard of the cloth covers. will have to try them).

Yeah. They have a lot of them in stock. Remember though, the units won't have the MSA stickers on them. They are legit though.

I like your style, man I haven't looked at either of those two(I was going to possibly go with some gold pro ears someday) so I'm interested in the answers in this here thread.

I have the Sordins and they are freakin' awesome. After going through multipe sets of the Howard Leights, I decided to step up to the best. The gel cups are super comfortable, even wearing them 8 hours a day for training classes. They are not cheap, but well worth it in the long run.

^Wish the the decibel rating was much higher than 18, though =/ I guess they're suppose to be pretty thin cups for rifle shooting, though. My thin-ish passives are 22db reduction

I own a pair of ComtacII and like them... wore them at a four day pistol class at front sight and the worked flawlessly I did buy a pair of MSA's at botach but have yet to try them out, when I do Ill take the peltors and compare them side by side.

Yep, for rifles I wear plugs underneath the Sordins. For handguns outdoors, the Sordins seem to do just fine.

I've been going back n' forth trying to decide whether to move to electronic or not. If the db reduction were higher like with the Pro Ears I have been looking at, it'd be easier. Do you have to crank the volume with plugs in? I do own a steel target now plus it would be fun to shoot the steel pistol gallery at Angeles.

No experience with the Swatac model but I did have a set of the Peltor 6S model that I was less than thrilled with. The sound wasnt that great and batteries kept repeatedly bursting when left in them.

I upgraded to the Sordin Supreme Pro X and have used them regularly for the last several years now and I have no complaints and no reason to look elsewhere. They are great.

I know its not a fair comparison as my Sordins cost more than 4 times what my Peltors did. Perhaps the Swatac line is more comparable with the Sordins...From my experience I can only confirm the Sordins are well worth the cost.
