    Gun show question

    Hello, new to the forum,
I have never been to a gun show and I'm heading to the gun show at the oc fair grounds next weekend. I'm In the market for a full upper assembly for my ar15 build. Do gun shows typically have good deals??

    Thanks for everyone's help!!

Gun shows have deals, but you have to really know what a good deal is. - IMO, you can’t beat the internet and alot of the vendors here on CGN have additional coupon code/discounts or great specials from time to time.

GS are really a time for me to fondle items I wouldn’t normally buy, or meet with other like-minded folks.

What kind of upper are you looking for?

Gunshows are gun related swap meets. It's impossible to say what will be there or how much one will want for it.

Do you know what kind of upper you looking for? have you looked online or gone to gun stores and check out the prices on that upper? Make sure you know the average price on the upper b4 u go to the gun show so you have an idea. And if you find a good deal, buy it, if they are about the same, see if you can talk down the price

Expect reloaded rounds and beef jerky deals

          Just kidding.

Keep a internet capable phone and do on the spot price checking-it's always a mixed bag of deals and steals.

I'm looking at the stag 2ht... Online I can find it for 690 after shipping, most places are out of stock, and all sites say will be shipped within ten days... I have a store near me that sells it for 755 after tax... Online I wouldn't have to pay tax... Don't want to have to wait, but for the sixty dollars I'd save I might have to...

Also remember that for one item, your parking(if you have to pay it), gas, and entry can cut into "deals" as well.

I don't go with any expectations. I just go in to look around and if something strikes my fancy I pick it up.

btw, I was at the San Jose gun show yesterday and saw the AW flowchart on one of the dealer tables. Looks like CGF is famous!

I've been looking for a upper for a while now, since I'm not desperate yo buy one I've been shopping around and waiting for the right one to pop up at the right price. Since I started searching I've been to two shows, I found deals, but nothing better than I could find online. Not saying you wont find a smoking deal on an upper, just don't expect tables full at insanely low prices.

I'd stay away from gun show uppers these days unless 1) you really know what to look for 2) you have the ability to disassemble and see what you're really getting.

I've seen a few uppers come through a local shop I frequent that are gun show purchases and they've been either complete rip offs or just plain dangerous.

Counterfeit or swapped-out, sub-standard parts are commonplace, so unless you're getting it from a reputable dealer/shop with a table there, I wouldn't take the chance/trust what you're getting.

One gun show upper I saw that came in last week had a completely blown up gas block. The reason it blew up is because it was made from cheap, stamped metal that was probably made in China. Low quality doesn't even begin to describe this thing. It was straight-up frickin' dangerous.

Don't try to save $50 at a show. Buy quality and buy from a reputable source. Gun shows these days aren't it if you're new to this game.

The most expensive place to buy any gun related thing is at a Gunshow. Gas, parking, Entrance fee, and thats not including the scammers or the possibility of DoJ encounters.

You said you were looking for a Stag 2HT. RIGHT HERE IN STOCK $700 + TAX + FREE SHIPPING, so $762.

The reason you find $690 + free shipping is ITS OUT OF STOCK. Once its in stock the price jumps up to $700...see how that works. You save $10 ordering when out of stock..sort of a waiting sale...and you do have to pay TAX... you just don't want to and are hoping the FTB doesn't nail you for not declaring it next year.

So you will find a Stag 2HT at the GS...for $690 + Tax, = $750, Then add on the Parking, $10.00, + the gas it took to drive there, $8.00 (2 gallons = 30miles?), + Entrance fee $5.00... That comes to $773.... how much was it at that link to Riflegear????
