30 Day Wait for 2nd Handgun?

I understand that I can only buy one handgun every 30 days. So how does it work? I started the 10 day wait period 2/17. I picked up my gun 2/27. So which date do I have to wait 30 days from?

I was told by a staff member at Turner's that I would have to wait only 30 days from the date of purchase (2/17). Allowing me to buy again on 3/18

Can someone set the record straight for me?

Thank you it is much appreciated.

I believe the limitation is set on handguns purchased through the FFL, where as which there is no "cool off" period with a person to person transfer

Welcome to Calguns from a fellow Calgunner from Yorba Linda. Yes, you'll be fine. Also, if you get your Certificate of Exemption (COE) from the CA DOJ then you care exempt from the 1 in 30 day purchase restriction. Costs about $75 and requires a live scan, but totally worth it, especially when you have an 03FFL (C&R).

CA-DOJ calculates the 30 days from the date it receives the DROS information; they would be the ones to reject that second purchase if it were within the 30.

CA-DOJ doesn't get any notification that you picked it up.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

So, 31 days should be fine then?
I'm going in tomorrow to dros my second.
It'll be 31 days since my previous purchase.
