What kind of magazine is this?

What kind of mag is this? My friend has at least 3 (possibly) more of these and he thought they were Mini-30 magazines but they don't fit the Mini-30.

Aside from a USA mag marking on the side, there is nothing about what gun they fit. It appears to be a 7.62x39 mag and has an AK-esque floorplate.

    Any ideas?

If they don't fit the mini-30, maybe they are for the 7.62x39mm ArmaLite.

That was my guess, actually. He mentioned that he had some extended SKS mags so these might be them. He just doesn't remember.

All the SKS mags I have seen have a flat tab on the back for the mag release, not a notch like that.

oh its a mini 30 magazine the problem is i havent bought one of those new back in the day that didn't take minor fitting

ive had to file the rear catch area on the back of the mag on at least 4 of them to have them fit

others i had to do minor lip tweaks

but i tell you what once i get them working they do work good

you can probably rock it in but it wont click
am i right? its a common problem

just file it a little check for fit then a little more you dont want to go too far or it will fit too loose

                just to be clear
you realize the mini 30 is a rock and lock design much like the ak/m1a/fal where you have to angle the magazine catching the front on the nub int he gun then the rear should click into place

oh also on the full synthetic stocks they may be a tight fit

Oh I know about the R&L system but these literally "swim" in the cavern that is the magazine well, at least on the first try. Huh...

also they insert easier with the bolt locked back but that shouldn't really matter much when the magazine is empty but witht he bolt back you can see the front hole catch the front nub

so what you are saying is it flopps around loosely in there maybe someone else fitted it to their gun

i have 6 mags just like that one
