    Boresnake question?

Is it good or bad to stick your boresnake into the barrel again after the first pass without brining back traces of lead?

Also do you need to wash your boresnake every use?

Lead is deposited on the barrel surface by hot nasty gasses present during the process of firing. Lead on the bore snake would be cold and not adhere to the barrel. Most people never wash the snake. You may wash the snake but are you married.

If you wash the snake too much you'll go blind.
But seriously, Brownells has a video about the Boresnake and they recommend washing it when needed.

I wash them when they start looking a little iffy. When you're cleaning what you see is that the grime kind of works its way down the snake a bit, but it would take a *lot* of cleaning to not have a clean foot or two at the end. In other words, anything that somehow lifts off the snake ends up getting caught by the next bit of snake.

I just swish it around in the sink with a bit of soap, rinse, hang to dry. No big deal.

I thought about soaking my bore snake in simple green for a few hours and then rinsing it off. Anybody try this?

I just rinse it out when it gets a little dirty.
