The problem is, you need to order 48 pounds to get the price to average out to be about what Powder Valley charges no matter how many pounds you buy. There's been alot of discussion of this on some of the reloading boards in the last few weeks. Heated battles by people that defend Midway, and people that shop at P.V.
I'm sticking to Powder Valley for powder and primers myself. I'm sure Midway with their buying power could drop the prices, I actually hope realize this, I like shopping at midway for things that are fairly priced, or won't kill me on shipping (bullets).Disenfranchised NRA Benefactor Life Member.

If anyone wants to order some primers and powder from Midway, can I join in and split the hazmat and shipping? I'm interested in some H335.
Also, I probably would wait until the issue of CCI .50BMg primers has been sorted out before ordering that brand.Comment

Me too. That's exactly what I was thinking, but when I started running numbers I figured I would stick with PV, I found an invoice, so here's a breakdown of the first order I ever placed with them:Originally posted by Technical TedI got excited because I buy a lot of reloading equipment from Midway and compared to local prices the powder seemed reasonable: If they carry the powder I'm looking for, a pound can run $23 to $28 depending on the store; Plus none carry powders in 8 lb jugs.
QTY ITEM $EA $TOTAL
----------------------------------------
(4) 1 lb Titegroup $11.80 $47.20
(1) 4 lbs Win 231 $51.75 $51.75
(1) 1k Win SM Prm $14.75 $14.75
(1) 1k Win LG Prm $14.75 $14.75
Subtotal: $128.45
Insurance: $0.40
Hazmat: $20.00
Shipping: $11.40
Total: $160.25
Same order from Midway would be $25-$30 more depending on how you configured the powder (I wanted 1 lb jars of titegroup, but for a couple bucks less Midway has the 4 pound in stock).Disenfranchised NRA Benefactor Life Member.

If you're in the Sacramento area, Great Outdoors, on the corner of Auburn and Watt, has powder in 1lb. bottles for almost the same price Midway shows. The only additional charge is the sales tax.
For those of you who belong to the Folsom Shooting Club, aka Sac Valley shooting center, they also carry several different powders for about the same, price + tax. Also, if you are a member, you can leave a note for Tom Lyons (he orders all the powder, bullets, etc) on what and how much powder you want, and you pay for it when it arrives. I usually get my powder there as I go through 5 and 8lb kegs about once a month.
No shipping or hazmat fees added to the price.
Niether place will ship to you. You have to get there.Rob Thomas - Match Director NCPPRC Tactical Long Range Match

I envy you sir!Originally posted by PthfndrI usually get my powder there as I go through 5 and 8lb kegs about once a month.
One 5 lbs. or 8 lbs. jug is usually good enough to last me the year.
I like group buys amongst shooting buds since the hazmat and shipping fees are spread out.
I was really bummed when the local mom 'n pop closed down last year, they were only 5 minutes from my job.
