    Carrying someone elses firearm.

I live in big bear lake in southern california, and i was wondering if anyone knows if its legal to carry someone els's firearm without them present if you have their expressed permission?

The reason i ask is because i am gonna go on a hiking trip to the top of san gorgonio mountain and was gonna ask my uncle to borrow his handgun. So if anyone knows or has info on it please let me know!

    Thanks.

Yes it's legal as long as you have permission. A signed paper would make life easier if you are stopped. I am making the assumption that you are legally allowed to own that type of firearm, and the loaner is NOT a RAW of any kind.

For a pistol, you also need a HSC

you need an HSC to order to receive a loaned handgun.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

You were right... 3 days but the uncle would need to be present at all times!

Is a Handgun Safety Certificate (HSC) required when a handgun is being loaned?

It depends on the specific circumstances. Generally, a person being loaned a handgun must have a current Handgun Safety Certificate (HSC). However, an HSC is not required when the loan does not exceed three days in duration and the person loaning the handgun is at all times within the presence of the person being loaned the handgun.

So basically i have to have my HSC before i can ''legally'' take posession of the firearm without my uncle having to be present the whole time it is in my posession. That does make sense. And yes i am old enough to purchase and own a handgun. Would go and purchase my own but i dont have a few hundred bucks to drop on a descent firearm. So i will just have to wait.lol

Yes, it does not make sense, but this is California. Remember that next time you vote.

Do you have a CCW or are we talking open carry?

Either way doesn't make sense to me....

I hike also but can't find a legal way to feel safe....

Im talking open carry. And ya there is alot of stuff to figure out and do research to do first. Unfortunatly there is no paper simpily explaining it. I wonder if there is a ''CALIFORNIA GUN LAWS FOR DUMMIES'' book out there that can just simplify all the gun laws cause sometimes i dont know what the hell it is saying. Im just a regular guy who enjoys shootin ****! But they are making it too damn difficult to know what IS legal and whats NOT. Damn confusing politicians.
