    newbie 1911 build help

    Hello,

I wanted to ask a question, I am new to the 1911 platform, I just purchased my first 1 a week ago, then my father mentions he has some old parts from the militart i could have built one. Please let me know if this is worth trying or do i have enough stuff to build a 1911 beater/shooter for about $200 in parts is what i would like to spend.

he gave me 2 barrells,2 frames, 5, new clips, 3 springs and misc parts pictured.

what else would i need, is anything really expensive or hard to get?

    thanks

    signed newbie. ( to 1911 atleast )

I don't know what all the parts are that you need but I see two slides but no frames. The frames are what would probably put you well over your suggested budget and thats not accounting for gunsmith costs for fitting or slides to the frame

Yes, no frames shown there. Even an 80% will put you over budget. Also no mainspring housing, trigger, sear, thumb safety, or slide release visible in these photos. Now your up close to the cost of a new Milspec gun. You made the right call buying a finished piece.

As others have said there are no frames in your pics. Unfortunately you can not buy a new frame here in CA because of the roster, but you can buy from another individual in state through a PPT, that is if you can find someone selling one. The other route is building a frame from an 80% receiver, but that's going to take a little effort.

Yeah I just got a ria tact 1911 45. I pick it up tomorrow.
Can anyone suggest where I could buy a frame already 100% ready besides fitting to the slide from?

Id like to put this back together for my father and me to have but it might just not be enough old peices to make it worth the time financially.
