Has anyone made a shooting rest?

I am looking to make a shooting rest for sighting in rifles, I googled this and found a few cool ideas. I have a chop saw a welder and a metal supply store near by. Only thing I was a little stumped on was what to use for the front elevation adjustment screw. Should I go with fine threaded bolt or try to find something with coarse threads. I understand finer threads would be finer adjustments but will it last? Anyways throw some ideas out.
