    HKMR556A1 Available for California?

    Hey guys,

I saw in a magazine of the HKMR556A1 AR-15 rifle, and it looks pretty sweet. Was wondering if anybody have any opinion on it and know if it is available in California.

I want to say that Riflegear had one on its shelves. Where are you located (and do you have an extra $3000)?

Any good, stocked rifle seller, or willing FFL should be able to order you one.

Yes you can get one that is made CA legal, but they range from 2700-3000 before or after the BB is installed.

The hard part is ordering one, they are in high demand not just here in CA and supply is still pretty low.

All the dealers I tried to order from say they have no idea when they can get one in. None of their distrubitors have one in stock and any dealer that I do find that has one is over 200-400 miles each way.

And the one dealer who did get one in last June 2011 hasn't gotten one in since, still kicking myself for not picking it up when I had first dibs.

Your best bet is find a dealer out of state who has one, send him a BB and have them install it first then ship it to a FFL here in CA.

Before I make the plunge I want to handle one first before dropping that kind of money on a firearm.

Definitely can be, and are in, CA. Seen a few around, but not lately......last one was at Riflegear (Nov/Dec 2011).

          Looking for a MR762 myself.

            Was that magazine "Recoil"?

It is a pretty hefty price to pay for an AR but to most owners the cost is worth the quality. Just remember, it is not a semi auto 416. It is very close but there are enough differences to seperate them.

Not sure your location but I saw one at Second Amendment Sports in Bakersfield maybe a week or two ago. Pretty hefty price tag though. ~$3k

Those rifles are really nice. They are also complete overkill for a 'California Legal' range / plinker gun.

Riflegear should have them. My friend just picked one up from them 2 weeks ago.

Lol, yes you are correct. Now that you guys mention the price tag, for my uses, it won't justify the cost, but all the replys are very informative. Thanks for the answers. I'll just probably pick up a complete rifle as a plinker or weekend shooter. The rifle isn't for a two way range or any sort of tactical journey.

There was one on gunbroker a few weeks back, it was set with a reserve and was at buy now at $7999.95.

                            EDIT:
Just checked, it's still there. But, with a buy now of $3795.00.

We have sold 4-5 of them out of our store. Pm me and we'll see if we can get another. I'm located in Ventura.
