Trying to figure out what the math is to calculate mils for wind drift. Anyone know it?

You cannot do the caculation by hand, there are too many variables. Best bet is to plug the numbers for your load into a ballistics calculator. A free one is here: http://www.jbmballistics.com/ballist...culators.shtml This program will give you wind holds in either inches, mils or MOA.
edit: Are you refering to how you make a wind call in mils in that simulation where the info is already given? In that case mil the target and caculate the distance. Then look on the chart for that distance what the wind hold is, the first one is giving it for 1mph. So lets say the wind is 5 mph, target is 500 yards, and the 500 yard wind hold is .1 mils for every mph. Wind hold for a full value (directly left or right) wind would be .5 mils. If the wind is not perfectaly left or right, you have to reduce that number. When the wind is at about a 45 degree to you, you cut the value in half.Last edited by G-forceJunkie; 02-13-2012, 8:14 PM. -
Oh, and buy a mildot master if your going to be doing this stuff, it makes the caculations fast.Comment
