    Electronic Hearing Protection

What type of electronic hearing protection do you use? What do you like or dislike about the type you use?

I use the Peltor Tactical 6S. I really like the compact size. I dislike the access to the battery compartment. I wish there was some type of indicator light to indicate on or off. I also do not think they are very comfortable when wearing for longer periods of time.

I had a pair of Caldwell's, They broke at the hinge the second time I used them.

I Picked up a pair of Walker's Alpha 360's to replace the Caldwell's and so far I am very impressed. Much better built and much better sound quality. They have 4 mic's instead of 2.

I bought the howard leight impact sport. Electronics seem to be quality, but they do not seal to my head on the bottom rear of either ear. Appears to be the shape of my head. Other people have no issues.

If its possible, I'd suggest trying on any of them you plan to get prior to purchase.

I may pick up some electronic muffs. I have slim Howard Leights that I double up with plugs. I have a steel target on the way and am not sure if I would be able to hear it or not. Am I right in guessing that when the mic is turned off during a shot, it would sound exactly like the 23db reduction muffs I have now?

The better electronic muffs and plugs compress the sound and don't turn the mic off.

I wear the EAR Digital Plugs for hunting on the range I use a muff and the plugs. Try the muffs on as they all fit different and our heads and ears are different. Find the one that fits the best a will still give you a good cheek weld.

howard leight. Works fine. Nice price.
Uses standard AAA batteries in an external battery compartment.
Some of the more expensive electronic earmuffs use hard to find and/or expensive batteries.

Pro Ears IMHO the best ones on the market. I had an old pair that lasted 6 years until the puppy found them, now I have new ones and they are even better !
