My kitchen table FFL here in Utah said he's already seen a run on anything self loading and for him at least it's worse than the '08 run when Obama got himself elected. With the end of the world and the elections coming up its a gonna be a P.I.T.A. to get a deal on ammo/firearms.

The chick from Houston was retarded. Bug out to Mexico?...Really? Also not enough fuel in her BOV to get there not to mention eating raw catfish. Never never eat raw bottom feeders, better off eating the cats. $20 says she whores herself out when oil runs out, but hey I would hit it.

Yeah, I watch this show sometimes---many good ideas---many lame ideas---like the group on tonights show that seems well prepared except for the part where they got no guns---don't like 'em! In a real situation, they wouldn't last fifteen minutes!

Wife and I saw the commercial and she asked what would we do?

I told her not to panic. We live in a really temperate climate (so cal) so shelter isnt a problem. We can drink the pool water for months and have a back up bio filter. Enough dry foods in the pantry for a month etc. The only thing I havent prepared for is a direct nuclear hit or zombies. If worse comes to worse we load up the big dual sport bike with a bunch of ammo/gas and pull an all nighter to my parents cabin in Utah. Or 'borrow' a Gulfstream or Lear and fly out. Chances are that if a SHTF scenario does happen, my employer will call to get the plane ready. That will include my family members.

Testing your home with a 22 rimfire to see if it's bulletproof. That was lame!

I picked up on that too. The Nat Geo team should have told them to go visit a prison and see what criminals are like and think about all of them back on the streets. Then have them spend a day in Juarez Mexico and follow LE and the military around to all the daily murders. Without weapons of some kind you are dog food. Since the beginning of time, those with the best weapons and knowledge how to use them ruled. The Iron Boot Rules and that's how it's been, like it or not. To deny reality in times of crisis is not survivable.

I don't have any weapons or food stored. Why bother when the gubbament will take care of me.

I watched the first show last night (DVR'd). Pretty lame IMO. I was expecting a little more of an instructional show, instead it seems to be people showing how they're prepping and the show's "experts" critiquing their efforts. Unfortunately, the people they profiled seem to be a bit on the paranoid side. They should show more 'normal' people prepping efforts.

Yep, I thought they picked out the most over the top preppers. Nothing about the 'gray man' who woudda thunk it preppers who have it all.

Which reminds me, I really have to get off my *** and get the propane conversions done on my Hondas.

The thing I thought was odd was the guy who built his house out of shipping containers then used a .22 rimfire rifle to see if the rounds would penetrate it. Like how about real life where most of us have .223 and larger not to mention the windows will not stop anything especially a Molotov cocktail. FAIL!

Did you guys also notice they shot at the edge of the shipping container. The part that forms the reinforced frame for the rest of the containers.

A realistic scenario would be shooting .223 along the entire length of the container, not just the strongest section.
