    A question regarding gun safes/cabinets

So I recently picked up a gun safe from a buddy of mine. I checked on the DOJ website and it is on the list of approved Safety Devices, which is great because this week I'm going to be making my next firearms purpose. However, I wanted to make sure that I'm reading the DOJ site correctly.

If I read correctly, I have to either provide a receipt of sale (Private sale so their was no receipt, although I could have an amateur Bill of Sale drawn up if necessary/if it will work) or Sign an affidavit under penalty of perjury that I own a DOJ approved Safe/cabinet.

The latter sounds pretty simple, however, do I need to bring such and affidavit with me or is it the FFL's responsibility to provide one?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

But, doesn't work for handguns since FedLaw changed.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Thank you sir. I read that section, but must have passed over the handgun exemption. Oh well, still a good thing to have, and for future long gun purchases, it'll save me a few bucks.

They have you sign and initial a piece of paper. They want the make, model, and serial number of your safe. No biggie.

          I don't think it's nice,...you laughing.
You see, my mule don't like people laughing.
He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him.
Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to,
I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

All you need on the affidavit is make and model. You don't need to remember the serial number.

            Here's a link to the .pdf https://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/p...orms/gsaff.pdf

FFL should provide a copy for you but I just fill out my own and bring it with me.
