S&W won't be selling just lowers. You'll have to find one out of state, dissassemble it, and have the stripped lower shipped seperately.

Heh. Some FFL in a free state oughtta post:

"See any completed AR's or AK's you want? Give us the place you want it ordered from, the FFL you want the receiver to go to, your address and the price + $100. Soon as your check clears, we'll buy it, strip it down to a legal configuration, mail the receiver and attached parts to the FFL, and anything we removed will be mailed directly to you (or in the case of mags, you never get it)."

          They'd probably make a killing...

There's a write-up in the current Guns & Ammo. The Accuracy of the standard AR was better than the tactical version. Tactical uses good parts including those made by Troy I believe.

Might even be harder to get since it's in their M&P line (Military and Police).
Don't know if they'll restrict civvy sales.

Would be kinda cool to have though, since I have stock in the company.
(And no stock or grips, looking for my first S&W to buy)

Nope, not restricted to sales, other than to California and New Jersey.

I'm working on getting one for myself... I'm waiting for my distributor to get them in stock so I can have a NV FFL get one for me. I'm going to have to take a drive to get it though. Oh well.

Is there a hole for a lock on the side of the frame?

So I guess they decided to just say "screw you Bill Clinton" and go their own way with a "tactical" series rifle... Well I'm glad they have seen the light...
