The PLR16 I owned was one of my all time favorite firearms -

Only sold it since it was easier to build a 6.8 AR pistol rather than convert it from 5.56 -

Otherwise - It would still be my choice for Ultimate HD/SHTF firearm....

Gee, I guess it doesn't... if you don't read it.

Let's be a little clearer: I own three Kel-Tecs; an SU-16, an SU-22, and a SUB2000. I've fired several thousand rounds through the first two, just acquired the SUB2000. I would not use any of the three by choice as a primary weapon, let alone a HD weapon. I might use the SUB as a truck gun in a pinch, but only because it folds compactly and uses Glock magazines, and only to survive to get to a better firearm. All three weapons' introductions were heralded with a great deal of hype, followed by limited releases, followed by (in the case of the SU-16, at least) with at least one repair campaign to fix a significant ejection issue. Sort of reminds me of Harley-Davidson's former marketing strategy... and yes, I ride one (or a Gold Wing, depending).

As I stated, I like unusual firearms... and the Kel-Tecs that I own definitely fall into this category. Given these samples, and the same pattern of extended hype followed by limited release with the KSG, I have no reason not to believe that it will be any different. As for disliking complication in gun design, you've either not read the post in the other thread or misinterpreted it. I dislike complication in a weapon intended to be treated as a serious HD or PD weapon. Complicated range toys, I like. That's why I own Kel-Tecs.

I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I have only 1 Keltec. It's a Carbine Sub2000. I love the rifle..and it shoots great. Although it is cheaply made. The seams aren't finished too well so a little hand sanding to smooth things out a bit is necessary. Maybe a little Quality control from Keltec would be beneficial for their reputation. But innovation and it being a good shooter makes up for it.

This particular rifle is so darn hard to find..even more so to get one into California. But it's worth it when you do get your hands on one. Not every one will have it.

The price of PF9 is still under $500 dollars total with the SSE, which is well under the price of a Kahr of similar size, although I may get a kahr since I plan to carry it.

I looked at the Ruger LC9 but I heard bad things about the trigger.

And I can find a good review video for every bad one....

                $500 for a Keltec?

I got my Kahr for $435 OTD and a second magazine well under $500. Still I've been told that I paid too much........

I had a sub2000 and loved it, it was a perfect backpacking rifle. I have a PLR16 that is super fun to shoot. Kel-tec's are great and reasonably priced. I plan on getting a KSG once they iron out their kinks and are easier to get.

                      I don't have a problem with Kel-Tec.

I have had good experiences with the two Kel-Tec firearms I ever owned.

I have around 3-4000 rounds through my 1st gen P-32 and never had any major problems with it. Had some failure to feeds due to magazine issues, which Kel-Tec fixed for free. Beyond that, no problems with it and it's my main pocket carry handgun.

Bought a used SU-16CA off the WTS forum, put 1000 round through it and it was malfunction free. It outperformed (accuracy/reliability) my friend's Ruger Mini-14. Got rid of it because my roommate wanted it, so I sold it to him.

From my personal experience with them, I would not degrade their products due to what the internets say about them.

My SU16 CA was shooting 2 round bursts right out of the box, cool, but illegal! And to top it off, it wouldn't cock the the hammer after the second round so it was a two round burst and then you had to eject the chambered round to cock it again for the next two round burst. Sent it back to Kel Tec and I haven't had an issue yet. I have an AR now but I like unusual guns too. I lend it to my friends when we go shooting while I'm shooting my AR.

What I don't like about the su16 is that it is a pain to clean with no direct access to the chamber. The bolt is a pain to reinstall. Other than that mine shot fine and my brother and nephews like it since I gave it to them.

                          I want the KSG though.

Not quite. $350 with delivery and SSE (you should see what people ask for them in PPTs....), plus I always figure fifty to hundred for the transfer, a little less in this case because delivery is thrown in.. I didnt catch if you were in state or not. So about fifty dollars more than the one you mentioned after DROS and tax. The CW9 (too large) at turners here is on sale some where in the neighborhood of what you got yours for.

I think my point may be that the differnce between a PF9 and PM9 is great enough to overpay for the one, as its still under 500 bucks, than overpay for the other, which will be closer to a thousand when all is said and done.
