    "Street Robberies & You-The Basics" (AR15.com thread)

I'm currently reading this thread over at AR15.com thanks to Raven Concealment Systems mentioning it on Facebook. Really, really interesting stuff. Police officer is the OP. Wasn't sure whether to post this in the LEO section or here.

Lately in GD we have had two different board members find themselves looking down the barrel of a gun along with the GF of another ARFCOMMER in street robberies. Also Blitz308 got shot all to pieces l

I've read a few things on AR15.com and couldn't stand some of the members but that post was gold. I've never taken a defensive class, CCW or anything like that yet but I thought this was a really good read and an eye opener to keep a look out in your environment.

That was a very good post.

The most interesting thing in it was his view on when to draw.

Absolutely! Hope some Calgunner LEO's take a read and post their opinions as well.

                      Javi,

                      Good post
I totally agree with his recommendations to not be polite (say No! to any questions asked), show signs that you're armed, and shoot first.

However a lot of his advices is based on his experience as a police officer. A civilian faces decisions and consequences that are unique. Should you CCW without a license? "Judge by 12 than carried by 6" is reasonable if CCWing saves your life. But what if you're caught CCWing without a livense as you're going about your business. Risk possibly 2 felony counts? Draw a gun at possible assailants. Assailant(s) run off. Another innocent bystander who's ignorant of what just happened calls the police on you for brandishing a weapon.

The fact he's LEO gives him more leeway than a civilian. Any doubts he'll be treated differently by responding LEO than a civilian!

I 100% agree... I've been jumped (tried to avoid them, saw it coming, but no where to go), and beat at work in front of everyone... I just wish a I had a CCW. I'm afraid the dude that came after me at work is gonna come back. He was CRAZY!! He did get put away for it though. And before I get flamed for maybe I was the problem. It basically came down to he was rude on the phone, so I hung up on him. He had my name and came looking for me because I "disrespected him by hanging up on him". Came in more then once and one time he came in I happened to be there. I hate that street thug mentality. I know it would have gone differently if I could have drawn on him. I feared for my life.

This happened a few days in Oakland. I guess owning a business means you have to wear a bullet proof vest on at all times.

Ya, Oakland seems like it's only getting worse. I try to steer clear if at all possible.
