    ammo, ammo, and more ammo

Usually how much ammo do you guys keep on hand? How much is too much? I have around 1500 in 9mm.

    Ammo

I am a ammo whore, going to take that Tacitical response class, staring digging thru the ammo boxes and came up with 2000 rounds of 9mm and close to 5000 rounds of 5.56. Won't get into the 308, 30-06 and all that milsurp stuff i have been collecting over the last few years. How much is enough? never have enough.

      I have about 1300 rds of 9mm
      1300 rds of .40
      4000 rds of .22LR
      250 00 12GA Buck
      100-150 12GA bird

I pick up a few boxes at walmart whenever I'm there.......which is hardly, so sometimes I'll make trips to walmart just for ammo. One day I would like trash cans full of ammo at my disposal.

          10 Golden Rules of Ammo

10 Golden Rules of Ammo found here...

          Rules of Ammo:

          1) You can never have too much ammo on hand. 1k rounds per battle rifle is a good minimum to start with (fubar).
          2) Supplies of good surplus run out before you know it, and usually when you're running low on ammo, so buy plenty while its available.
          3) When in doubt about how much ammo you should buy, refer to rule #1.
          4) Ammo is meant to be shot, so shoot often.
          5) Because of rule #4, ammo must be replenished often as well.
          6) When replenishing supply of ammo, refer to rules #1 through #3.
          7) You must buy at least twice as much ammo as you shoot (fubar).
8: Always store ammo in a cool dry place (TEA).
          9) If you don't have room in your house to store ammo per rule #8, build a bunker or a cellar in your back yard for storing ammo (TEA).
          10) Friends don't let friends buy Indian surplus ammo (TEA). Or Never buy surplus ammo from a country where you wouldn't drink the water (midrat).
          ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just repeat rule six as often as I can.

I have less ammo today than yesterday......went shooting with my kids and friends yesterday. Busted well over 1k caps of various types. Number 1 son turns 25 in December and we already have a shoot planned for that that will consume mass quatities. I will replenish at Reno, but I still have many thousands on hand. I get alot of ammo at Wal-mart, I always buy a box or two of something every time I go there. When Sports Authority is running a sale I stock up as well....(thanks Snorkel Bob!) I have ceased reloading in volume since ammo is cheap, and my time is worth money. When I do have some time off, I want to spend it shooting rather than loading!

All I have left is about 500 7.62x39s I really need to stock up.

Having limited amounts of money and a family to feed I only keeps enough to fill every gun and mag I have plus an extra box of 50 for each cal. I keep every mag loaded and every gun ready to fire. When the SHTF there is no time to sit and load mags.

I don't have a lot of ammo either. I have 150 rnds of 9mm and 200 rnds of 5.56 XM193. I also have a brick of .22lr. I figure thats enough for when a little S#i+ hits the fan like the LA Riots. Perhaps not enough for when the Big One hits. But after reading this thread, perhaps I will stop by the store.
