    FFL didn't order my rifle

    Ok so I have a gripe/rant/question
So today is my 10th day. I did not come home with my rifle. I ordered on a Saturday from her online catalog (davidsons) and pay the deposit. The next Monday I come into the shop to dros and pay the balance. The next Saturday I see my dealer at the gun show. Even say hello and I'm excited to grab my rifle Thursday. She tells me to call before coming. So today I call and ask when I can come by to pick up. She tells me 4:30. So after 10 days of sweating dros (just moved and wouldn't put it past doj and DMV to make it hard on me) and being all excited I walk in, hand her my receipt, proof of residency and she say "well hope it's here". After a minute of sifting through papers she says with a smile "nope not here. Maybe tomorrow". Wtf??? Then amazingly on my way home I get a confirmation email from davidsons saying "thanks for your order, your gun shipped today. It will arrive on the 7th". WHAT?!?! So she didn't even order the damn gun. So to the question...I am pretty pissed...am I overreacting. Also am I out of line to deman a refund?

it is possible that it took them 10 days to ship, maybe confirm that before confronting her.

Get your money back, that's not good business. They should have checked into all of that when you paid for it.

this. AFAIK, davidson's automatically ships the firearm when you order it on gun genie. perhaps davidson's took the order and had an issue shipping (back-ordered, CFLC issue, etc)

If you have started DROS and the rifle is coming, then simply wait, quietly pick up the gun when it arrives, and find a different gunstore for future purchases.

If I were in your shoes, that's what I'd do. Not much point into confronting the store owner about it - wasting my time is an issue for me and pretty much means that I'm taking my business elsewhere. I might be able to forgive a late order, but having me drive in for a pickup - and not having the rifle after I've called to confirm - is a problem.

If you ordered it through Gun Genie, it's on Davidson's, not on her. However, she could have made the effort to check if it was in yet, and informed you of when that would be.

The dealer has to pay for gun (balance) to initiate the shipment, which she didn't actually do until yesterday. I understand the confusion but this is all on her. She didn't initiate the shipment until the 2nd of Feb at 6:05 pm which is after I came in. There is no doubt she dropped the ball.

This happens to me here and there. You get busy and things fall through the cracks.

Another option is to see what you get out of it. Be very polite when you go in to pick up and say, "You know the other day when you said to come in, I drove all the way from __________ and wasted quite a bit of gasoline. Is there anything you can do to help me out here? I understand things happen, but this whole thing has really turned me off."

If you were to say that to me, you would probably get a pretty sweet deal on your firearm. When I make a mistake, that is when customers tend to get their best deals.

Or you can go in there and demand a refund and take your business elsewhere. Not sure how that benefits you at all. If it were me I would try and get a sweet deal out of it. If she responds and takes care of you, then you can give her another chance. If she doesn't, then that will be the last time. Put the ball back in her court and she what she does.

I think that's where I'm so irritated. Her ho hum attitude about it. And the lie she TD me about it being ordered when it wasn't. I'm not looking for something out of nothing. I think I just want to get my money back and go support another local dealer with my business.

I'm telling you, you have the perfect reason to get a good deal on this firearm. I'd try and take advantage of it and if she still blows you off, then try to cancel. However, don't be surprised if she tries and makes you to pay a cancellation fee.

You can either hold most of the power here or quickly learn she has your money and if she wants to, really screw with you. Yes she might lose you as a customer, but if she realizes that before the transaction is over, why bother trying to be nice or even give you any of your money back.

This is a game of chess. Play it smart and win!

What a bunch of disrespectful jacka--es!

Take your hard earned money elsewhere! Remember you are the reason they stay in business. No business should have that Oh well attitude!
That right there is not good customer service. Even IF they made a mistake and we are all humans, their Contemptuous attitude is not acceptable!

Can you let us know who this is, after it is resolved (good or bad)?
                          Thanks

I would wait until they have the rifle in their hands, go in and talk to the manager. Express your displeasure with the delay and how unprofessional it is. (I would have been particularly peeved about calling and getting the response "Come in after 4:30" when they had to know it wasn't there)

Now that they have the rifle in hand and would be stuck with it if you didn't buy it, see what they will do for your trouble.

If they don't give you the answer you're looking for, ask for demand a full refund including DROS.

                              which FFL is this?

Sometime's it's the dealers fault. I've had Discount GunMart forget to start my DROS once. But they made it better by giving me a bunch of free gun range passes.

On the other hand a different FFL ordered me a Kimber and told me 6 months. Well apparently Kimber lost my order and I didn't get mine till a year later. That's on both of them. FFL should have followed up in my opinion, so in the end I just cancelled and went somewhere else.
