    Sure Glad I didn't wait.

I figured this was coming sooner or later.

at what point does this "backlog of pent up demand" constitute the miscarriage of the 2a ?

Waiting for over a year seems unreasonable.

Having to wait a full year to be able to protect your self and loved ones because the system can't keep up with demand? sounds like an unreasonable burden to me...

answer: training, background check, DONE! go find the training and if you can pass the livescan, you get your CCW. Eliminate the interview and good cause requirements and the system would go from 50/week to 250+/week.

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

In Santa Clara County it is even worse. We need a new sheriff first. One that actually believes in the Bill Of Rights.

Thats what I'm saying. I dont see "well we used to never do this, so we cant do it now that we have to" being a valid excuse to enforce unreasonable delays.

the issue isn't so much this particular sheriff - on the contrary its the state's fault for misappropriating funding and burdening it's citizens with inaccessibility to lawful protection , which is protected under the United States Constitution.

I say do what every other company does when they are back logged : Temp Agency the employees.

Before anyone suggests "uhhh security / safety" concerns - I have worked temp positions in my younger days with varying degrees of security clearance approval. Temp agencies work with the government constantly to process security checks. Why not get an extra 50 - 100 people in there to do this until that "back log" ( i read it as : "previously oppressed roster" ) is worked through, and worked through quickly.

i can appreciate your sentiment but unfortunately that only legitimizes these excuses

Yes a year is a long time to wait, and it shouldn't take that long. Buuuttt, at least things are slowly turning around?

Jeez, I thought the 4 month wait for an appointment was bad when I got mine in 2010. I saw that things were getting back logged and made my Dec. 2012 renewal appointment in Dec. of 2011, as soon as the system would let me. They need to do something to address this issue.

I've been told that one of the problems is that the ANTI'S are flooding the online Appt system so that nobody can't schedule an appt. Do not how true this is or what can be done about it if it is true.

the question you should be asking yourself is :

If the "antis" where to get a ranged "closed" on paper - how fast do you think they would want to see it actually shut down.

I doubt they would be happy with "sometime during the next 2years we'll get around to it"

just because its now marginally shorter of a wait than "never", it doesn't satisfy the law.

While it is frustrating I know that several members have been able to keep checking everyday for a cancellation and gotten an appointment. So keep checking a couple or more times a day, or especially late night and maybe something will open. They did keep that option open on the website.

if they were truly getting false applications to "flood the system" as someone mentioned, this would be proper recourse for actual applicants and it should show the clerks / LEOs processing the materials who's actually interested and who is out to monkey the gears. great suggestion!

I was one of the lucky ones back in August to get a cancelled appointment... original appointment was for next month. Some lucky guy (or gal) picked that one up within 5 minutes of me canceling it.

I'm glad I was able to take advantage of this opportunity and hope they are able to get this process ironed out to support the backlog of people who need their LTC.
