    Transport Rifle on a Motorcycle

Has anyone done this? Is it legal? How did you do it and what case or bag did you use? I'm in San Diego.

The bike is my only mode of transportation. I can use the wife's car but its a pain in the rear, plus I don't want her to know when I bring another toy home. Any help would be appreciated.

I've often wondered the same thing. Handguns i lock and put in a pannier, the rifle? won't fit...

I have wondered the same thing.

The only ranges near me are a drive away (perfect for the bikes). I usually only take the pistols for this exact reason (just lock them unloaded in their cases in a backpack tied to the bike).

Based on the doj transport laws. It sounds like you can just have the unloaded rifle and in a proper case. However, I would imagine that unless you remove the barrel and put it in a backpack, it makes you a high target for getting pulled over.
HANDGUNS Pursuant to California Penal Code section 25610, a United States citizen over 18 years of age who is not prohibited from firearm possession, and who resides or is temporarily in California, may transport by motor vehicle any handgun provided it is unloaded and locked in the vehicle’s trunk or in a locked container. Furthermore, the handgun must be carried directly to or from any motor vehicle for any lawful purpose and, while being carried must be contained within a locked container.
WTB: multiautomatic ghost gun with a .30-caliber clip to disperse with 30 bullets within half a second. Must include shoulder thing that goes up.

Around here LEOs have a shotgun on their mortorcyle riding in a rack that locks, located on the right side up by the front tire.

Perfectly legal to transport an unloaded rifle on a motorcycle. Dont be surprised if you get pulled over.

its all in how you transport it.

I transported a yugo m24/47 from santa barbara down to Culiver City by motorcycle ... with 1600 rounds of 8mm mauser on the bike as well ( 4 spam cans and 1 bundle of loose wrap) . FTF transfer with another calgunner.

All i got were /waves from the few police I saw.

If you must transport the firearm via motorcycle, be sure to know where your restricted zones are on your route (so you can avoid them and not accidently enter one looking for gas or a restroom!!!! ) and as always....

wear proper protection while riding a motorcycle. The appearance of legitimacy is 98% the battle. Riding in shorts, flip flops a tank top and sporting an mini14 slung across your back makes you a sore thumb.

I was in full gear head to toe and was wearing my high visibility overjacket (commical yes since it wasn't low viz, but show that you're making the effort and most police officers understand that motorcyclists have it hard enough just staying alive - if they observe you being sensible, it makes them less likely to want to know what the AK47 is doing on your back)

Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.
