    You should keep the gunsafe in your own bedroom, in a corner, so that it's by your bed and you can get at it immediately in the night.

    You should open it every day the minute you get home, and lock it the last thing before you leave your home. That should become your regular daily ritual.

    Congrats on the safe. Your guns, jewelry, and laptop(s) are truly safe now, whenever you are not home. And your guns now have a safe clean nest, when you are home.

      The thing is supposed to be like 640LB, so I gladly clicked the $50 checkbox to include installation haha. Not sure I could even move the thing around my house.
      remember, it says 30 long guns, what they don't tell you is it's more like 30 bb guns or .22's with no scope's or pistol grips.

        I would say keep the number to a bare minimum, and if you accumulate redundancies then sell some off.

        Here is my bare minimum which I also try to keep as my maximum --

        - semi-auto handgun loaded and chambered and safety set, to top shelf;

        - revolver loaded, also to top shelf;

        - shotgun not loaded but shells attached to the stock;

        - .22 cal revolver or rifle empty;

        - your favorite hunting rifle in your favorite calibre empty;

        - lots of ammo for all the above;

        - binos;

        - rangefinder;

        - other valuable like cameras, jewelry, and laptops.

          Just put a dryer/softener sheet in it. Smells fresh!

              Why do you care about the smell? You're not living in it. Once you start filling it up with guns it will go away.

                      Guys! Put a box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda in there to absorb the smell.

                      As for bolting it down, pick a spot where the side that opens is against a wall. In that way, someone with a pry bar will have a very difficult time trying to pry the door open, because the wall will be in the way of the bar's movement.

                        Thanks. I just got an email saying it was on the way. Now I'm waiting for the delivery company to call for the appointment. Delivery on their web site is listed as Friday, 2/3.

                        It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

                            Catch a stray cat and lock it inside of the safe for about 1 - 2.5 hours!
                            Wa-la, new safe smell is gone!

                            Just kidding.

                            I got one from Costco about a year and a half ago. Still has a little of that new safe smell. It will go away the more you leave it open getting things in or out. I think a dryer sheet might help.

                            Like everyone else, congrats and BOLT IT DOWN.
