    Victorville, CA

I'm may be in Victorville in February for the day. I'm bringing my son to an Airsoft event out there, and thought I would bring the guns and see if I could find an outdoor range, or area to go shoot after I drop him off to spend the time. Does anyone know any areas/ranges that are not too far away?

Apple Valley Gun Club comes to mind. I don't think they're open to everyone though unless its a range day; which are fairly frequent.

If you decide on Hodge Road, please don't trash the place.

Where do you go on Hodge Road? Any more information? I hate trash!

Funny story when I was a kid. We lived near a canyon river "wash". While walking the dog, my dad came upon someone's trash that they dumped off the road in the bushes. He came home and told us about it. He had rifled through it and found return address envelopes and magazines with the owners address. He told us we were going to pay a visit to the guy.

He woke me and my brother up at around midnight. We went down to the pile of trash and picked up as much as we could load into our station wagon. We made sure to grab things that we knew the owner would recognize. I remember a beat up tricycle and some other toys you couldn't mistake. We then went to his house and quietly unloaded the trash and spread it all over his front lawn.

I'll never forget that. We drove away with tears running down our faces we were laughing so hard.

So, no trash from me if I make it out there!

I've shot at Hodge's a few times. We always bring Hefty bags and police up our mess and then some.

Heading north, take a left at the exit and find a place with a hill, use the hill as your backstop.

Boat loads of BLM out there, don't even bother with a range.

I looked it up on Google Maps - it doesn't look that remote. Is there a ranger station to confirm that I'm headed to the right place - showing the BLM Land etc?

I just want to be sure. I haven't gone off onto BLM land to shoot before.

I just shot there on friday afternoon (2/3/12). You head north on I-15, you will exit hodge road. Turn left and the road turns into packed gravel. On the right is a hill with a radio tower. That is private property. Once you've passed the radio tower hill, go about another mile down the road and you'll see a lot of desert scrub off to your right. There is a lot of shotgun shell debris and casings out there. I was kinda sad to see how much trash people left.
Me and my cousin went to the hillside and set up our targets. Ran through 200 rounds and packed up all our stuff. Heading back to the freeway, saw about a dozen other vehicles had parked along the road as well.

If you have any doubts, a friendly member of the board linked me to this map. should clear up any questions you have, and if you print it out, you can have the peace of mind that you're not doing anything wrong.

Just make sure to pick up your trash and find a spot where the hill isn't rocky. We definitely heard a couple of ricochets while we were out there.
RIP Cpl Contreras, Sgt Atwell and LtCol Raible.
