Is Laguna Seca (Monterey) OLL Freindly?

A few months ago I relocated to the Pacific Grove area. I have yet to take my rifles out to a local range. Is Laguna Seca OLL friendly? I have been itching to go out one last time before the rain comes.

Last time I was up there, they didn't seem too FIREARM friendly. Maybe I got the RSO on a bad day.

It would be easy enough to call from PG and ask them straight up. Horses mouth and all that.

I haven't been there since the race season started, but I have in the pass seen a few friendly ARs.. the range master in the morning is understanding

No problem with OLLs at Laguna Seca. There was a change in personnel a few months back; Vera, who was a fantastic rangemaster, retired. The new guys are still pretty good and as time goes by and they'll get to know you, it will be as good as before.
As with any range, do abide by the rules.

For some reason their website is down, but Laguna Seca is almost halfway between Salinas and Monterey on Highway 68.

Rifle and Pistol Range
The Laguna Seca Rifle & Pistol Range offers a safe shooting environment with a well trained staff to assist you. All first time visitors to the Range facility must inform the staff when signing in. A copy of the Range rules to read, followed by a brief overview of the procedures will be provided before shooting. All shooters and spectators must sign a liability waiver located at the Range Office. Those under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign the liability waiver for them. Children 6 and above are permitted to fire rifles. Children 14 years of age and above are permitted to fire handguns. All children must be supervised while firing or observing at the Range. Eye and ear protection are required.
Rifle & Pistol Range Schedule
Fall/Winter (mid-September through mid-April)
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, & Monday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m.
Spring/Summer (mid-April through mid-September) Saturday & Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
and Friday & Monday, 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Rifle and Pistol Range is closed on Christmas Day, New Years Day, and during special events held at Laguna Seca. Call the Laguna Seca Recreation Area for specific dates, (831)758-3604.
Fee:
First hour - $8.00/person. Each additional 15 minutes or portion thereof - $1.50/person
Club Event (subject to reservation) - $5.00/person
Test Fire (10 minutes) - $4.00/person.

I was not aware they charge by the hour (or 15 minutes)... I can spend a few hours at the range, easy.

Anyone one know what ranges they have for rifle shooting? 100yd, 50yd, 25yd?

Standard are 50, 100 and 200 yards. You can set up a portable target for 25 and anything else you desire up to 200, but you have to haul the target yourself. Plus there is a 300 yard gong.

Or...come on down to the SLOSA range, and shoot all day for $10. OLL's encouraged!

Pretty cool to see some fellow Calgunners from the area. I'm in the Bay are now, but grew up in PG and spent many days at Laguna Seca. If it wasn't a race of some sort it was the range.

I haven't taken any OLL's out there, but I'm glad to hear they are friendly. What memories at that range....I remember shooting the gong with my .22 as a young boy...

Laguna Seca Range

I shoot there all the time. I've seen many "military" type rifles being shot, nobody appears to care as long as safety rule are adhered to (rapid fire rules).
I was there Friday - the 300yd gong is down - fell apart during a rain storm. Looks as tho they are rebuilding it tho.
Great range, nice solid tables, reactive targets, on part of the pistol range.

One thing I do at ranges when arriving with my OLL...I let the range master know that my magazine is pinned and can not be removed. I ask them in what manner they would like me to keep the rifle during the cease fire. Some have asked that the bolt be held back...others have asked me to pull out the BCG.

The last time I was there I did't have a problem. But the did have me open up my AR to check the inside, for what I don't know.After a few said it was good and I went to my bench. The only I hate about that range is taking all my junk up that hill.

Funny....growing up in PG, all I wanted to do was get out....now that I'm grown and gone, most of the time, I want to head home and visit the family. I get down every few weeks, but it never seems like enough.
