Weird Firearm Related Emails/Offers

Has anyone else gotten weird firearm related emails or offers. I'm a little paranoid and always assumed that one I got a while back was some type of LEO fishing operation.

I got an email from a guy that I bought used brass from once. It was a little weird, since he didn't really have any brass to sell and it had been a while since I had contact with him. The person was located outside of CA. The guy wanted to sell me 4 AR-15 30 round mags. He specifically offered them to me and knew that I was in CA since I had bought brass from him. He told me he had no problems sending them to CA. The email just didn't seem right. I politely turned him down. I will not be purchasing brass from him again. I still think it was some type of LEO sting.

Whenever something like that happens you should state emphatically that you do not condone illegal sales of guns or gun parts. Explain to the seller why it is illegal and then sever all ties with them. It could have been a sincere offer made in ignorance. In that case, you have given the seller the tools to stay out of jail. However, if it was a sting you just covered your butt. Sounds a little fishy to me as well. You handled it well, imho.

Yeah, I have had a couple people e-mail/call me about guns I have had for sale, saying that they would give me x dollars greater than I was asking to keep the transaction truly face to face, and not involve any FFL because of the silly bureaucratic laws in CA.

I told one of the shmucks to pound sand and I would not be doing any business with him, period.

I told the second person that there was no chance of me selling without an FFL, but I gave him the chance to do a legal sale, since I was a bit curious to see who this kook was. Oh, and person #2 is a Calguns member. Surprisingly he did not want to end up doing the deal.

I do not even know if I still have the pm with his name... I know he made his request over the phone, not pm. I believe he was in San Diego...
